A PILLAR OF COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
For the past 10 years, Bridge Street Development Corporation has implemented a successful teen civic engagement volunteer program MYBASE (Motivated Youth Building All Self-Empowerment). MYBASE has introduced hundreds of Bedford Stuyvesant/Central Brooklyn young adults 14 – 18 years old to leadership development, civic engagement, internship, and community services experience. They have learned first-hand about local politics by annually attending the NYSBPRAL Caucus Youth Summit, voter education through participatory budgeting and supported our local elected officials at community events. Many MYBASE alumni are currently working for City Agencies, Community Based Organizations, pursuing their education or careers in social justice/development.
This year proudly marks the 10th Anniversary of MYBASE serving the Bedford Stuyvesant/Crown Heights neighborhoods. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, we are hosting an Anniversary Gala and would very much like for you to attend and be a part of our celebration! In addition to recognizing our Alumni, we will also honor the current MYBASE cohort of 20 young people who have participated faithfully this year.
