Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC) envisions Bedford-Stuyvesant as a neighborhood that embraces the new while still upholding its deep-rooted cultural traditions. Yet, some long established small businesses are finding the new commercial landscape difficult to navigate effectively, with competition from well-financed, tech-savvy enterprises draining revenue on which they have long depended.
BSDC’s Small Business Boot Camp program aims to provide established small businesses with the knowledge, techniques, and resources required to compete in today’s evolving marketplace. Through an intensive 7-week “boot camp”, qualified small business owners who have operated in the community for at least 5 years will gain first-hand practical knowledge of marketing, promotions, design, communications, and other subjects that are critical to their long term success.
The Boot Camp will also entail 1-on-1 counseling to help the business owners customize and implement the methods and techniques they’ve learned. It is facilitated by a variety of professionals with expertise in finance, marketing, design, social media, business technology, communications, etc.
