Pre-Purchase Homebuyer Education & Counseling

Our Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Approved housing counselors are fully equipped to help you through the entire home buying process. Through educational workshops and one-on-one counseling, our counselors will help you understand the purchasing process, create a budget, and inform you of grants or first time homebuyer programs based on your eligibility. When necessary, our counselors will work with you to improve your credit score to ensure that you are ready to make the significant investment of purchasing your first home.

Covering a variety of topics relevant to the purchasing process, our free workshops are perfect for future homeowners who are looking to prepare themselves for the commitment of homeownership. Workshop topics include how to know if you’re ready to buy a home, methods to improve your credit, affordable housing options, and how to work with realtors and homeownership counselors.

Our comprehensive 8-hour Neighborworks America course takes first time homebuyers through the entire purchasing process. Designed for motivated homebuyers looking to purchase within a year, this course covers money management and credit, obtaining and understanding a mortgage, how to shop for a home using a realtor, and how to protect your newly purchased home. First time homebuyers have the opportunity to hear from representatives of the real estate community who will be part of their home purchasing team including lenders, real estate agents, home inspectors, insurance agents, and more. Participants will also learn about grant opportunities for first time homebuyers and receive a certificate of completion.
