Nine-Week First Investors Workshop

Every fall, in partnership with Signature Bank, BSDC offers the First Investors Workshop. The nine-week course teaches you the investment basics, from how to invest in stocks and bonds to how to build wealth. You are also are encouraged to create a long-term investment strategy and to set a goal—for example, to buy a home, start a business, or pay for further education.

During the course, you will also receive a free subscription to The Wall Street Journal for 13 weeks, to help you learn more about investing in the stock markets.
To participate in the workshop, you must have saved $750 to invest.

At the end of the nine-week course, you will receive:
  • Another $750 from the bank to invest, so you will have a total of $1,500 to invest.
  • A meeting with a financial planner from Signature Bank to help you refine your long-term investment strategy and determine which investments you’d like to make.
  • A waiver of all bank fees on all investments you make in the first two years.
